Colin Taylor wins Alveley and Claverley for the Lib Dems

After the Liberal Democrat victory in the Shropshire Council by-election Alveley and Claverley in South Shropshire on 19 October 2023, Chris Naylor said:

“I congratulate Colin and his team on their win. They have worked tirelessly talking to residents in Alveley and Claverley and the surrounding hamlets and villages and keeping them informed about their choices at this crucial by-election.

“South Shropshire now has equal numbers of Lib Dem and Conservative councillors on Shropshire Council, eleven each. Communities in the south of county are electing councillors it knows will listen to them and work to secure improvements for their area.

“First Highley, then Worfield and now Alveley and Claverley. The tide is turning on Tories across South Shropshire.”

• Liberal Democrat: 662 votes, 58.7% (+36.2)
• Conservative: 408, 36.3% (-33.0%)
• Labour: 55, 4.9% (+4.9%)

Turnout: 1,137, 31.8%.
